Don’t Train Your Dog for Hours at a Time, Short Sessions are Key!

Training your dog cannot be a specific time during the week, it is showing up every day and every moment you are interacting with them (or not), training never stops!

These days we feel the need to train our dog for hours at a time, but in reality this only asks for distractions and possibilities for reinforcing unwanted behaviours.

Lengthened sessions are exhausting for both you and your dog and distractions will easily replace your value.

Instead, try shorter sessions about 3-5 minutes at a time, but more times throughout the day. This allows for your dog to have their full attention on you, without the distractions and overwhelm. We love our quick and fun games that build the relationship between dog and owner through inspiration!

But your commitment to your dog goes beyond physical things, it’s a commitment of loving each other.

Remember that the time you spend with your dog should not only be for training, spend time with them because you want to, even if that consists of cuddling on the couch.

Are you interested in knowing more about how to keep your dog engaged for short sessions, as well as our favourite games for doing so? Check out our Dog Mastery program, where we dive into all this and more, giving you life-long experience, so you can tackle any struggle with ease! See you there
