How to Release Your Dog to Ensure Clarity

Many dog owners underestimate the power of releasing their dog, which might just be one of their biggest reinforcers.

The moment you allow your dog to leave their position is releasing them from the behaviour you asked and expected.

However, that’s not always the case… many dogs have been taught that after a reward, with attention or treats, they are released because that’s what you taught them.

Instead, we want your dog to hold their position until YOU release them.

During this moment, you need to be really present so that you don’t accidentally reinforce something you do not like.

When you ONLY release your dog when they do what you want, you create CLARITY for your dog. This allows for the transfer of value to come through you.

The willingness to do everything for you in order to be released is massive.

Make sure that you are consistent and clear about your criteria of the behaviour before you release, so there is NO confusion possible.

Use a unique word for the release.

Don’t use a word that you use in your daily language all the time, to grow great understanding. A strong word is key, and the power of permission can be much more powerful than any treats you are giving.
